Every new game added to Facebook by an aspiring game creation company gives you more choices for your daily gaming adventures. The six-month old gaming studio Row Sham Bow has released their first public offering with the beta testing of Woodland Heroes.
There may be other games that already offer cute, woodland creatures for characters, but no other Facebook app combines this cuteness with strong strategy game play. Whether you come for the smiling raccoons or the furious combat to defend your castle, you’ll be hooked in no time.
Row Sham Bow knew when it first opened that the Facebook gaming world is heating up and that they would face stiff competition with their new release. Some of the biggest veterans in the social gaming industry were brought on to make Woodland Heroes a truly engaging world. You’ll build an army of animals to defend your forest home from an array of evil enemies, including King Bear and others. Connecting with your Facebook friends helps you boost your skills, but you won’t have to face them in battle. Use catapults to fling projectiles like pigs and rocks at the other side or train ground troops like you would in Civilization or a modern-based strategy game.
Like many other popular strategy Facebook games, Woodland Heroes uses a turn-based system rather than a real-time progression. You’ll have plenty of time to think out your moves and adjust your troops before each action is carried out. The game also features a rich and involved storyline that connects all of the battles together. Gamers visit 56 unique locations in six diverse regions against various enemies, making the combination options for each battle endless. Each day you’ll need to check your maps and reconsider where you plan to strike or you’ll quickly lose territory as your enemies push back.
Your troops and army also level up and gain new abilities and skills as you win fights. Proper planning and strategic skills are just as important in this game, despite the cartoon graphics and settings. Some hardcore strategy fans might find the focus on furry critters off-putting, but the gameplay is solid and worth trying even if you aren’t a fan of cuteness. A team of designers, including an Art Director who was trained by Disney, put together a beautiful and compelling game world and easy to use interface. Woodland Heroes is one of the first games to offer a full console gaming experience on the Facebook platform.
