Sid Meier, the genius behind the Civilization series is currently developing an adaptation of the game for Facebook called “Civilization Network”.

Civilization is a strategy game where you get to start your own civilization and plan your own destiny. Waging wars and thrashing other civilizations is only one way to play the game. You will also get the opportunity to use your prudent political skills(lol) to overcome your enemy. Crippling the enemy economy is always a worthy tactic. But let’s not forget, sometimes it’s better to keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

David McDonough of Civilization Network had this to offer;

Civ Network offers a wide variety of things to do and ways to get ahead. Technology, culture, wealth, and military paths are woven together in careful balance so people have endless ways to play and win. Next time you play a game of Civ (whether it’s on the PC, console, iPhone, DS), you should get on board the econ boat – the boat made out of solid gold! The money game in Civilization Network is a tricky beast. Hoards of gold are self-sustaining once they get big enough and the treasury can be converted into anything you need at a moment’s notice, but timing is everything when a big play takes such a heavy slice of your economic lifeblood. I usually need a good network of friends with me early on, keeping me up-to-date with technology and watching my back in case there are any wars. But once the game gets rolling, a strong money player can have truly fearsome momentum.

We think Civilization on Facebook will be for the more advanced gamer but we will have to see how it develops. Civilization Network Facebook is still in development and is anticipated to be released June 2010.

Watch out for this one, we think it’s going to be a cracker.
